Survive What???

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Weighing in at 40 lbs. a piece... we present to you our 72-hr. kits. Zipper-splitting and back breaking, these beauties are our plan for survival. Sorry Max, I don't know if I am going to have the energy to carry you with this thing strapped to my back... Did I mention that they are 40 lbs. a piece?!

I think it is a bad sign when I have left them sitting in the living room for three days because I dread hauling them up the steps... and I am planning on taking these on a life-saving trek?! Somehow, three gallons of water accompanied by food, clothing, and first aid/hygiene needs doesn't fit neatly inside a lovely petite fashionable purse. Yet, somehow, I do have more piece of mind having these babies around.

I have more news... my son KNOWS what I am saying to him! Certainly I knew this day would come, but it still blows my mind. I ask him where his tongue is and he sticks it out, tell him to wave good-bye and he waves, ask him where my nose is and he pinches it- we have a genius! Or at least a developmentally appropriate child, which equates to a genius in his mother's eyes. I think I am going to love this new stage. I am all about communication and we are entering that beautiful realm. Wait one minute, I can hear you laughing even over the internet... What do you mean that even when he knows what I'm saying he may not obey? Well, ignorance is bliss- at least for now.

It is probably time to mention my better half. Glenn is still survivng Director-hood. He is amazing. I admire what he will give to a project. AND... he is illustrating another book (different from the book cover he did earlier)- it is some sort of children's primary book. Yet, he is still doing two weddings this summer to pay for his new laptop. Small price to pay in comparison to the rush he gets from his new technology (I am sure my sisters-in-law understand this phenomenon). He is also busy serving well as the Young Men's President. He is still learning what he is supposed to do exactly, but in the mean time- he bonds so well with the boys that the details will all work out just fine. Great guy.

Well, it is time for me to stop typing and check up on the family blogs- can't wait to hear what's happening! Posted by Picasa

I'll admit it, I'm jealous. After 27 attempts (okay, a LITTLE exaggeration) we still don't have our 72-hour kits completed.

Willing to share a list of what you put in it? I never feel like mine has EVERYTHING I need.

Congratulations on getting that done. Something we all know is easy seems to be totally difficult to actually do. Way to go!

Isn’t it great when your baby morphs into a little person? I’m loving the same thing about Ethan right now. But any day now, he’ll start telling me “no!” (Even that’s cute at first!) It’s fun to hear about Max!

Doens't it feel great to have those 72 hr. kits in place. My Mom gave us ours for Christmas last year. It was one of the best gifts ever! Sounds like Max is developing well! Sounds like you guys are having fun!
