Max Speaks

Max really did not want to practice his little primary talk that we had hastily written this morning (on note cards!). We had chatted about the content over breakfast and printed up some of Glenn's tiny talk pictures for the occasion. I am going to now give you the whole of Max's talk (this will be important later):

I can show my love for Jesus Christ by sharing the gospel. I can help them know:
1. Jesus Christ is our Savior.
2. We can pray & Heavenly Father hears us & helps us.
3. The Book of Mormon is true.
4. Families can be sealed together forever in the temple.
5. God gave us prophets . Today President Monson is God's prophet to the world.

Well, Glenn went in about 10 minutes before Max's talk to see if he'd like to practice, and he refused- adamantly. He also insisted he could do it himself. At talk time, Max went up, Glenn stood by him and held up the pictures- and Max SIGHT READ his talk (he's been in kindergarten for less than 2 months)!!! He did a great job and only needed help on about 6 or 7 words!

But, the story doesn't end there. By item number 3 in the talk, Max began to dance around a lot. Glenn asked him if he needed to go to the bathroom. He waited a second, then said into the microphone, "No, it calmed down." A few words later Max said he did have to go, so he dashed off the podium. Glenn quickly said "In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen-" and followed him out.

Glenn was cheering Max on as he went about how fantastic he had been and Max wasted no time going to the bathroom and hurrying back to the primary room just in time to see a little boy get up to say the closing prayer. Max called out "But I didn't get to finish!" And that sweet Primary president let him go back up to the mic, where he picked up at the EXACT word he had left off on and finished reading the rest of his talk! Awesome. Stellar little finisher of a boy.

When Glenn told him how amazing he was, he just said "It was easy!" Glenn told him that was right- Choosing the right is easy.

That is so incredibly awesome and hilarious. And amazing! Wow, what a reader. I just read the story to Eric and we were both laughing together, especially the part where he had to finish his talk after using the bathroom. This is going to be a great story for a teenage Max one day. :)
